Candlelight Ministries Featured in News & Advance

An article about Candlelight Ministries entitled “‘Angels in disguise’ assist those most in need” was written in the local News & Advance paper on June 11th, 2011. We feel blessed to be recognized locally for the ministry work we do to help the elderly. Below is an excerpt from the article:

“Cheryl and Larry Randall started Candlelight Ministries in 2006. The plan was simple: Three or four days a week they would take food to seniors and the permanently disabled, the two groups they knew have trouble reaching pantries by themselves.

Five years later, roughly 1,200 clients month literally sit by their front doors waiting for the Randalls.

To most of them, the food has become ancillary to their relationship with the couple, now permanent fixtures in their lives.

“They are little angels in disguise,” says Pearl Bailey, community manager at Clear Brook Apartments in Lynchburg.”

Candlelight Ministries March 2012 Update!

God is good!

We have been blessed and humbled to have led three new souls to Christ in our Thursday service and one during a delivery. Also, 5 saints rededicated their lives to Christ in our Thursday evening service. We had the privilege of baptizing them along with a new brother in Christ. One brother accepted Christ and went home to be with the Lord 4 days later. God is indeed longsuffering and not willing that any should perish!

We have partnered with House of Prayer in Pamplin, Virginia for a new Saturday distribution day! Pastor and Sister Rainey have a desire to minister to and reach souls for Christ in the Pamplin area. This partnership allows us to meet the needs of the Pamplin community together. We are excited about this joint effort so please pray that it will continue to be a success and that House of Prayer will have many opportunities to share Christ in Pamplin.

A Testimonial – Brother Eric’s Story

Brother Eric was a kind and caring soul, who did many things for many people but he was unsaved. His wife is a paraplegic in a power chair and her prayer request and shared desire was that Eric would accept Christ. As we held service each week Eric would listen to the music across the hall and later comment on certain songs that had touched him. His favorite was “You can’t be a Beacon”. When we first started serving Brother Eric’s Apartment Complex he would comment on my hats (I’m a hat person) and invited me into his apartment to show me his hats (he was a hat person also). As time went on I was able to minister to Brother Eric because of our hat conversations (God can and will use anything and anybody – even a hat to reach souls). Later, Brother Eric was diagnosed with liver cancer and admitted to the hospital shortly before his death. Cheryl and I visited him that Thursday night after service and shared Jesus with him, he accepted Christ and went home to heaven the following Monday morning. We felt so blessed and privileged to share his decision with his wife the next day; she was so excited and thankful to Jesus for her answered prayer. Thank you Jesus for all that you do!
